Tracked attributes turn individual number answers in questionnaires into a history, for example weight or waist size over several weeks. This article shows how to create attributes, link them to questions and where the values appear.

## Prerequisites

- The **Questionnaires** feature is enabled for your organization.
- Only **organization owners** can create, edit and delete tracked attributes, regardless of whether they hold the Practitioner or Medical Assistant role.

## How it works

A tracked attribute is a measurement your organization defines once: for example "Weight" in "kg". When you link a number question in a questionnaire to that attribute, every answer to it counts as a value of the attribute. When a participant fills in the questionnaire more than once, those values form a history.

Tracked attributes belong to your organization. Other organizations do not see them.

## Create an attribute

1. Open **Questionnaires** in the sidebar.
2. Switch to the **Tracked attributes** tab.
3. Click **New tracked attribute**.
4. Fill in the fields under **Details**:
   - **Key**: a unique identifier, for example `weight`. The key cannot be changed after the attribute is created.
   - **Label**: the name shown to participants and your team, for example "Weight".
   - **Unit**: for example "kg" or "cm".
   - **Color**: optional.
5. Choose how the attribute is displayed under **Display options** (see below).
6. Click **Save**.

## Display options

| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| **Show as KPI** | The latest value appears as a key figure card in the participant's overview. Your organization can show at most **4** attributes as KPIs. |
| **Show in chart** | The history is also shown as a chart. This option requires **Show as KPI**. |
| **Disable trend indicator** | The card shows only the current value, without the change since the first value. |

## Link an attribute to a questionnaire question

1. Open the questionnaire in the builder. An active questionnaire has to be set to **Inactive** first, see [Build and manage questionnaires](https://help.meetone.io/en/organizations-admins/build-manage-questionnaire-templates).
2. Add a question of type **Number** or open an existing one.
3. On the question, tick the checkbox for tracking an attribute and choose the attribute from the list.
4. Save the question.

Only number questions can be linked. Within one questionnaire, each attribute can be linked to one question only. Different questionnaires can use the same attribute, for example an intake and a follow-up questionnaire that both ask for weight.

## Where the values appear

Attributes marked as KPI appear as key figure cards:

- in the participant's overview in their own account,
- in the participant's overview when your team opens it in MeetOne.

Each card shows the latest value with its unit. Unless the trend indicator is disabled, it also shows the change between the first and the latest value. For attributes with **Show in chart**, clicking the card opens the history as a chart once there are enough values.

## Edit or delete an attribute

In the **Tracked attributes** tab, use an attribute's actions menu to **Edit** or **Delete** it. Every field except the **Key** can be changed.

> **Warning**
>
> When you delete an attribute, the linked questions lose their link. The questions and the existing answers in the questionnaires are kept, but the history and the key figure card for that attribute disappear.

## Troubleshooting

- **"Show as KPI" cannot be saved.** Your organization already has 4 attributes marked as KPI. Remove the mark from another attribute.
- **"Show in chart" cannot be saved.** Also tick **Show as KPI**.
- **I cannot choose an attribute for a question.** Linking is only available for questions of type **Number**, and the attribute must not already be used in the same questionnaire.
- **The chart does not show a history yet.** A history needs several completed questionnaires from the same person.
