MeetOne's video effects blur the room behind you or replace it with an image, so your surroundings stay private during a video appointment. The image works like the virtual background you may know from other video apps.
Prerequisites
- A Chromium-based browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or another Chromium-based browser – on a computer or an Android device.
- Video effects are enabled for your organization. If they aren't, the camera menu has no Video effects section.
Not in Safari, not in Firefox, not on iPhone or iPad. There, the items under Video effects are greyed out. On iPhone and iPad this applies to Chrome and Edge as well, because every browser there runs on Safari's engine. On Apple devices, use the video effects built into macOS and iOS instead.
How to blur your background
- During the call, click the small arrow next to the camera icon (Show options).
- Under Video effects, choose Add background blur.
Your background now appears blurred – in your own view and for the other person.
You can also turn the effect on before you join: in the preview, the camera icon has the same menu. The effect stays on when you enter the call.
How to use a background image
If enabled for your organization, you can replace your background with an image:
- Click the small arrow next to the camera icon.
- Under Video effects, choose Add background image.
The image is set for your organization – you can't upload your own. Blur and background image are mutually exclusive: turning one on turns the other off.
Turning an effect off
Open the menu again and choose Remove background blur or Remove background image.
Your choice only applies to the current video appointment. In your next appointment – and after you reload the page – your background is shown unchanged again. Turn the effect back on if you need it.
On a Mac, iPhone or iPad?
On Apple devices we recommend the video effects built into the operating system – on a Mac even if you use Chrome or Edge. macOS and iOS process the camera image with hardware acceleration before it reaches the browser. That takes load off your device, works in Safari too and offers more options, such as adjustable blur. Here's how: Use video effects on Mac, iPhone and iPad.
Common problems
- The items under Video effects are greyed out. Your browser doesn't support video effects. Switch to Chrome or Edge – or on a Mac, iPhone or iPad, use the operating system's video effects.
- There is no Video effects section. Video effects aren't enabled for your organization.
- Video or audio stutters since you turned the effect on. The browser recalculates the effect for every single video frame, which takes processing power – especially on older devices. Turn the effect off or close other programs. The Call Health panel shows whether your device is reaching its limits.
