As an organization owner, you can see how many seats your plan includes, how many are currently used, and how to adjust the number when needed.
What is a seat?
A seat is used by every active person with the Practitioner role. Medical assistants don't count toward this and don't need their own seat. An invited practitioner who hasn't yet confirmed their account already uses their seat.
Check your seat usage
- Open Organization > Account.
- In the Users section, you'll see how many seats are in use (e.g. "3/5 used") and the corresponding share of your quota.
During a trial period, the number of seats isn't capped — the display simply shows how many practitioners are currently active, with no limit.
Reaching your limit
The seat usage indicator changes color as you approach or reach your limit. Seats are part of your plan: to add more practitioners than your plan currently allows, increase your seat count first (see below).
Changing the number of seats
The number of seats is managed together with your plan. For details on increasing or decreasing it — including the rule that you can't go below the number of currently active practitioners — see Manage your plan and subscription.
Troubleshooting
- I can't add another practitioner. Check your seat usage under Organization > Account and increase your seat count via your plan if needed.
- I want to decrease the count, but it won't let me. The new count can't be lower than the number of currently active practitioners — deactivate any accounts you no longer need first, see Invite and manage team members.
