Your contacts store the name, email address, and phone number of people you deal with regularly; text snippets help you quickly insert recurring wording into messages and journal entries.

What a contact is

A contact stores a person's name, email address, and, optionally, a phone number. Contacts are created automatically when you create an appointment using a participant's details — if automatic saving is enabled for your account. You can also add, edit, or delete contacts yourself at any time.

Add a contact

  1. Open Contacts in the navigation.
  2. Click New contact.
  3. Enter Name, Email, and optionally Phone number, then save.

When creating an appointment, you can use Choose from contacts to select an existing contact or an existing participant, so their name, email, and phone number are filled in automatically.

Edit or delete a contact

  1. In the contact list, click the contact's name or the edit icon.
  2. Change the details in the Edit contact dialog and save, or delete the contact using the trash icon.

Medical assistants also see which doctor a contact belongs to, and can edit the contacts of every doctor in their organization.

What text snippets are

Text snippets are pre-written blocks of text you can insert while writing, instead of typing recurring sentences every time. There are two categories — snippets for messages and snippets for the participant journal — depending on where you insert them. Each snippet is also written for either doctors or medical assistants, so you only see the snippets meant for your role.

You don't create text snippets yourself — an administrator at your organization or organization does. Contact them if a snippet is missing or needs to be changed.

Insert a text snippet

  1. Open a message or a journal entry and click Add.
  2. Select Add text snippet.
  3. In the Insert snippet dialog, click the snippet you want to use to insert it into the text field.

With Append text turned on, the snippet is added after any existing text; otherwise it replaces the field's content. Journal snippets are also available when filling in the additional notes on a prescription.

Common problems

  • The snippet dialog shows no or very few entries. Text snippets are created per role — none may have been set up yet for your role. Contact your organization administration.
  • A contact is missing from my list. Contacts are only saved automatically if this setting is enabled for your account — add the contact manually in that case.
  • I can't edit or delete a contact. As a doctor, you only see and edit your own contacts; as a medical assistant, you can edit the contacts of the doctors in your organization.
