As the host, you start the video appointment, admit the participant into the call, and control the microphone, camera and other features.

Prerequisites

  • A confirmed appointment
  • Camera and microphone access granted – check this beforehand with the system check

How to start the video appointment

  1. Open the appointment and click Start.
  2. Allow access to your camera and microphone if your browser asks.
  3. Check in the preview that your camera and microphone work, then click Join now.

Admitting the participant into the call

If a waiting room is enabled for your account and this appointment, participants wait until you admit them:

  1. The Waiting room list shows who is waiting.
  2. Click Admit to let the person into the call, or Deny to turn them away.

If no waiting room is enabled, participants enter the call directly as soon as they open their join link.

Controls during the call

  • Microphone and camera: click the respective icon to turn it on or off, or use it to choose a different device.
  • Share screen: see Share your screen for details.
  • Open chat: if enabled for the appointment, you and the participant can exchange text messages during the call.
  • Connection status: shows the current connection quality during the call.
  • The options menu also gives you fullscreen mode, picture-in-picture, keyboard shortcuts and, where available, background blur.

Ending the video appointment

  1. Click Leave room.
  2. In the Leave this room? dialog, confirm whether the call should end for all participants.
  3. If enabled for your account, you can also decide here whether the appointment should be completed right away.
  4. Click Leave.

If the appointment wasn't completed automatically when you left, complete it afterwards using Complete appointment.

To hand out: the printable guide sums up on one page what participants need for their video appointment — put it up in your waiting area or attach it to the appointment email.
